My Favorite Things for the
Treatment Room & Office

Domain Names & Web Hosting

Bluehost– (What I’ve used to build and maintain this website as well as my professional website). My absolute favorite platform for web hosting and domain name buying. You can very easily create a beautiful Weebly or WordPress site and/or blog through Bluehost. I’ve had less than stellar experiences with other companies as far as creating a website, mostly because I get so confused when it comes to actually getting a website to go live, as well as how many different fees are associated with hosting (and what they mean). Bluehost has very friendly and quick customer service. Unlimited domains on one hosting account. Great prices. Very easy to use. I didn’t know I could ever be so happy with a web hosting company!

Online Scheduling

I have used multiple programs for this but now my favorite, by far, is Acuity. They can easily schedule through my website, it links to Google Calendar, and it sends automated emails (that I’ve customized) and text messages to my patients and emails/text messages to me. They integrate with multiple other programs like Zoom if you ever do video conferencing, and they even have a place to purchase supplements or products, gift certificates, packages, and you can also add coupons. They also have great customer service.

Email Marketing

AWeber– When I get an email address for a patient (from their New Patient Forms), I put it in my email list. I send out periodic emails letting them know new things about my practice, etc. I also send out information letting them know seasonal tips to manage allergies, etc. I do this all through AWeber, and I also use it for this very site here (my opt-in form is from AWeber). Very easy to use. I highly recommend their services. =)

Word Processing Programs

Word is my favorite because I’ve been using it for forever, but Open Office is a close second. It’s free and similar to Word. Download to a Mac or PC. All the Customizable Forms are either in this format, Mac Pages, or in Word format.

In-Office Favorite Things

3 Pack Wireless Controlled Electrical Outlet with Remote– For the automation of EVERYTHING! I love these things and I don’t know why I practiced an entire year without them everywhere. I use them to control the various fountains in the clinic, the two lamps in my treatment room, my table warmer, my space heater, my air purifier, and even my heat lamp. I am a simplicity/organizational power advocate and these things are amazing. Just two clicks and everything in my room is lit, heated, and ready for a patient!

Plug-In Lamp Dimmer– I have two of these in my treatment room for two separate lights and they are perfect for setting relaxing lighting. Turn on lamps using the remotes (above), then use these to dim the lights when you leave the room, and un-dim when you come back to wake your patient up! It helps to keep the ultra-relaxing vibe of the treatment going. (Must be used with standard bulbs- not fluorescent.)

White Noise Machine– These are great if you need to drown out outside noises or noises between treatment rooms! Ideally they are placed inside the room the noise is coming from (like an office or reception area), to muffle it for the next room over.

Keeping Track

Double-Pocket Plastic Dividers– I love these for easy organization of my business receipts. I have two packs of eight in one big binder for all of my income and expense receipts. Each divider is labeled with a month. The front pocket holds the month’s income receipts, and the back pocket holds the month’s expense receipts. After the month is over, I move it to the back of the binder. At the end of the year, I put all the income receipts and all the expense receipts from the year in two separate ziplocs (and label them), then re-use the binder/dividers for the following year.

For the Best Treatments

Kukui Nut Body Oil– This mixed 1:1 with Zheng Gu Shui = my favorite oil for cupping and gua sha. Shake before using.

Plastic Cupping Set– My favorite cupping set, next to glass cups. Durable and strong. Easy to clean. Great suction. I use these over my glass cups often!

HEPA Small Air Purifier– I have one of these under a chair in my treatment room, and it really helps circulate stale air (as I don’t have open windows in my room). It’s also great for white noise and can be set on three different levels depending on how much white noise you want.

Fleece Table Warmer– This makes every treatment so much more relaxing, and this particular table warmer is my favorite. I keep it on low all day, and with two sheets over it, it adds the perfect amount of warmth to the table.

Plain White Sheets– These are my favorite sheets, as they are durable and sturdy and can handle thousands of washes (even when there is bleach involved). Soft enough to use for draping, too.

Doorbell– Should your patients need you for any reason during their treatment! I’m a fan of this doorbell as the clicker is simple and clean, and the sounds/volume are adjustable.

Clean-Up

Wooden Trays– For cleaning cups. I have two of these that I use nearly everyday. Just wipe down cups, place open-side up on the tray, spray with cavicide, wait 3 minutes, rinse off, then place onto a paper towel back inside of the trays to air dry! Easy cupping clean-up.

Shop Towels– A cheap and eco-friendly solution to using paper towels to clean up oil, wipe down hands, dust off surfaces, etc.

Tabletop Trash Can– An easy way to dispose of cotton balls, if you don’t have your main trashcan nearby.
